What caused many people in the urban middle class to oppose Díaz’s dictatorship and support a political revolution?

The correct answer is B. They wanted a democratic government.

Porfirio Díaz was a Mexican dictator he ruled Mexico for 35 years, this period is known as “Porfiriato”. To stay in power he had dubious elections, he had a hand-picked Congress that amended the Constitution so he could stay in power. He manipulated many elements of Mexican society to stay in power. But the urban middle class opposed him once the recession came, many Mexicans that lived in the US started to organize a political revolution. In 1910 Díaz allowed a free and fair election which he lost to Madero.

How were economic and political nationalism in Latin America related?

The correct answer is D. Both developed from a growing wish to end foreign dependence.

Latin America was very dependent economically from other countries, such as the US and Europe. When the Great Depression came in 1929, it brought poverty and chaos, this sparked the need from Latin American countries to want to become economically independent from foreign countries. To do so they needed to become proud of their own countries. This later developed strong nationalism which led to strong authoritarian governments.

What did the Pan-African Congress accomplish?

The correct answer is A. It established a cooperation among Africans and African American leaders.

Pan-Africanism was a nationalist movement that emphasized the unity of Africans despite where they lived, all that mattered was that those people were African descents. Their motto was “Africa for Africans”. The Pan-African Congress accomplished many things, such as a charter of rights for Africans, and cooperation between Africans and African-American leaders.

How did the environment of Arabia serve as a form of protection during much of the region's history?
MakcuM [25]

The Arabian Peninsula is a one of the harshest places on the planet, and this has served very well for the people living in here as a protection from invaders. This peninsula is almost totally covered by deserts. There are extremely high temperatures, and also strong winds that create deadly sandstorms. There isn't any river that has water throughout the whole year, and also the food resources are very scarce. All of this made it very unattractive for any invaders for starters, and also as a great protective barrier, which led to a partial isolation of the people in this region.
