Answer:

1. Metal money  --- Specie

2. Republican Party candidate --- Abraham Lincoln

3. Southern Democratic Party candidate  --- John Breckinridge

4. Northern Democrat candidate   --- Stephen Douglas

5. President of the Confederacy  --- Jefferson Davis

6. Vice President of the Confederacy --- Alexander Stephens

Explanation:

1- Specie is one way to refer to metal money.

2- Abraham Lincoln was an American politician and lawyer who served as the sixteenth president of the United States of America from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865.

In 1860 Lincoln secured his candidacy for the presidency of the United States by the Republican Party. Although hardly supported by the southern states, defenders of slavery, he swept in the north and was appointed president in 1860.

3- John Breckinridge was an American politician. He was the 14th vice president in the administration of President James Buchanan. He was Senator in 1861.  He was a presidential candidate in the presidential elections of 1860, in the middle of a great division of the Democratic Party, representing the southern Democratic voters.

4- Stephen Douglas was an American politician from Illinois. He was a member of the House of Representatives, Senator, and candidate for president by the Democratic Party in the 1860 elections, losing to the Republican Abraham Lincoln.

5- Jefferson Davis was an American politician who served as the sole president of the Confederate states from 1861 to 1865. As a member of the Democratic Party, he represented Mississippi in the Senate and the House of Representatives before changing his allegiance to the Confederacy.

6- Alexander Stephens was an American politician who served in the House of Representatives (1843 - 1859), from where he advocated slavery but opposed the dissolution of the Union.  When Georgia left the Union, he was elected Vice President of the Confederation.
