Throughout U.S. history, the U.S. supreme court has decided that there are major causes related to the civil liberties of African Americans. Because of those decisions it had a significant impact on the nation. Some examples of these cases included Dred scott v. Sanford which happened in 1875, Plessy V. Ferguson which happened in 1896, and the case of Brown V. the Board of Education of Topeka which took place in 1954.
