The draft was a weak ending, it mentions the deadly consequences of radiation and it continued to take human lives.  That in itself was a good line to add there, however, by adding a what if scenario you could mention the fact that had the bombs not been dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima , the war would have gone on. How much longer would the war had lasted? How many more lives would have been lost? The Japanese army was fierce and would not stop defending Japan. If the bombs had not been used would Japan have been annihilated by the allied forces after the fall of Hitler? Or would the army of the rising sun have taken more extreme measure in its quest for conquest? Those types of reflexives questions at the end of a paragraph make a reader think about what they have just read even if they had prior knowledge about it. Moreover, those types of questions make allow you to win the argument.
