The correct answer is letter B

The United States War of Independence, American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), American War of Independence, or simply Revolutionary War in the United States, began as a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Thirteen Colonies, but gradual, it grew into a world war between the British on the one hand, and the newly formed United States, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and the Kingdom of Mysore on the other. The main result of the conflict was the American victory and the European recognition of the United States' independence, with different results for the other powers.

The war was a consequence of the American Revolution. The British Parliament insisted that it had the right to tax the colonists to finance the military defense of the colonies, which had become increasingly expensive due to the wars between the French and the Indians. The colonies were opposed to that taxation by arguing that they had already spent enough on local governance to maintain their position in the British Empire, with Benjamin Franklin appearing in the British Parliament arguing that "The colonies had already been together, dressed and paid for the past close to 25,000 men a year and spend many millions. " The settlers claimed that, as they were British citizens, imposing laws in Parliament on settlers and, in particular, taxation without representation, was illegal. American settlers formed a unified Continental Congress and a shadow government in each colony, although at first, with the desire to remain in the Empire and loyal to the Crown.
