Clinton served as president from 1993-2001 and the events in Rwanda took place in 1994. Bill Clinton was the first president to truly redefine US foreign policy without a Cold War and the existence of the USSR. Clinton focused on human rights violations but the genocide in Rwanda was missed. He was asked to intervene and chose not to. This resulted in a 3 month genocide resulting in the deaths of 1/2-1 million people in addition to refugee migrations.</span><span />
In the mid year of 1994, somewhere in the range of 500,000 and one million Rwandans were butchered by their very own comrades—an accurate death toll has never been pinpointed. The international community remained by in horror witnessing the events unfold. Most remarkably among them, the United States of America.
