English

Answer:

Ancient cultures hardly have anything common with present world cultures. So, I order to understand Homer's Ancient Grecian world (some 800-700 BC), we have to get some insights into that culture and not to our own's.

Explanation:

Homer is attributed author of Iliad and odyssey - two most famous ancient epic poems. Homer's Grecian world is some 800-700 BC. It is a time before any chronological system was developed. There were no calendars at that time. The culture was full of myths and extravagant heroic tales. That culture and world was too much different from our's. So understanding our own culture is hardly going to help us in understanding Homer's Ancient Grecian world.

Which sentence best shows a compare/contrast organization of ideas? A) The number of video games that Arnold owns is staggering
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

The correct option is letter B) While Rebecca wants to go swimming every day, Arnold only wants to stay home and play video games.

Explanation:

A sentence that compares two elements focuses on those elements' similarities. A sentence that contrasts two elements focuses on their differences. Among the options given, letter B is the only one that presents a compare/contrast organization of ideas. As a matter of fact, it is contrasting Rebecca's and Arnold's preferences. The conjunction "while" helps convey the idea of contrast by stating that, while one element wants one thing, the other element wants something else. While Rebecca would rather go swimming, Arnold prefers to stay home. The difference between their preferences are made clear by the sentence's organization.
