Answer:

Torn by conflicting nationalistic beliefs, Yugoslavia fractured and collapsed into civil war and ethnic cleansing

Explanation:

Yugoslavia was a communist country and probably the best one for living of those types of countries until its famous leader Tito was in charge. Tito died though at the beginning of the 1980's and nationalists managed to get hold onto the highest positions in the country. What was a country that was a prime example of people of different ethnic and religious groups living, collaborating, and developing together for 40 years, started to quickly crumble from the mid 1980's. The tensions grew during the second half of the 1980's, mostly between the Serbian and Croatian nationalists, leading to a bloody war and genocides at the beginning of the 1990's. One by one, the states declared independence, with only Macedonia being able to get out of Yugoslavia peacefully and without war.

What happened after the Wilmot Proviso was introduced in Congress?
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

The proposal of Pennsylvania congressman David Wilmot aimed at avoiding slavery in the lands gained after the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), fearing the addition of more pro-slavery territory. The proposal was neutralized in the South-dominated Congress, but it encouraged fierce debates on slavery, and ultimately, led to the creation of the Republican Party.
