- He was labeled an extremist when he told his people that their normal and healthy discontent can be channeled into the creative outlet of nonviolent direct action. - He was initially upset about it, but as he thought about it more he learned to like the label. - He lists many examples of extremists from himself to Thomas Jefferson so Abe Lincoln. The question is not if we will be an extremist but rather what extremist will we be.
