The American Civil War was fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865. <span>The American Revolution was a colonial revolt that took place between 1765 and 1783. The American Patriots in the Thirteen Colonies won independence from Great Britain, becoming the United States of America.</span>

The difference between civil war and American is that civil war is when half of the country fought the other and the revolution was when the country fought another.
