Answer: whatever the story is, I know I can spend the night or nights in the wilderness; I have many times, with a blanket, knife and carbine. With a fire, you can cook what you hunted or brought with you. As long as you have some water and (some) sort of nutrition, you can go as you like in the woods. Granted, I grew up in such a place, but I’d rather spend a week in the woodlands than overnight on most big city streets!

Should graffiti be illegal, yes or no? Give reasons or evidence to support your claim.
Ganezh [65]

Answer:

I do believe graffiti should be illegal.

Explanation:

The official definition of graffiti is, "writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place". Meaning that graffiti is a form of vandalism. And because vandalism is illegal, I don't think any other forms of it should be considered 'ok'. That is my opinion on the subject. Note my 'opinion'.

Which is NOT true of xenia as it pertains both to the Greek culture and to The Odyssey? Failure to show xenia, both within the b
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Answer:

It is based on obligation, not on friendship.

Explanation:

Xenia is an ancient Greek belief/ concept of extending hospitality to others, especially strangers. It is this belief that will hold many respectable relationships in Greek culture and even still practiced by some people in the modern world.

In both the Greek culture and the book "The Odyssey" by Homer, the concept of Xenia is presented or practiced. The question is asking which is not true of this concept, so the concept that is not true will be that Xenia is based on religious obligation and not friendship. This is false because, Xenia is based on both religious and friendship obligations, not just one alone. Xenia allows people to be hospitable to one another which can continue for generations, thus, merging with the friendship obligation.

The failure to show xenia can incur the wrath of Zeus is true for Zeus is believed to be the patron of the very concept.

Xenia involves the reciprocal guest-host relationship of hospitality is true because it is about the two parties' relationship of showing hospitality towards one another, the host waiting for the guest to be comfortable before he can ask questions and the guest has to make sure they do nothing wrong against their host. They are also expected to show the same hospitality whenever needed in the future.

Odysseus violated the code of xenia on the island when he was a guest of the Cyclops Polyphemus by stealing his property and hurting him.

I can't figure this out? Please help
prisoha [69]
I can't exactly give you the answer, as I haven't had a chance to read through the material, however I can help you come to the answer yourself.

Using the text, can you identify three ways in which the characters were "rebellious" or were told to do something, but didn't?

Or you could provide examples of how they were different from society's standards in some way.

Using a random example of being different from society's standards: Some slaveowners would treat their slaves as other human beings who were equal to them, and would educate their slaves to help them have good lives. This was not the norm, as slaves were usually treated as less-than-human and were often forbidden to become educated. If a slave was found participating in school-like activities, the owners of the slave had the right to kill them. By educating slaves and treating them well, a slaveowner wouldn't be following the typical norm.
