Well, if that's the question, then you'll probably need to know
what their GCF is. Does that sound reasonable to you ?

What's the GCF of  44  and  40  ?

The factors of  44  are:  1,  2,  4,  11, and  44 .

The factors of  40  are:  1,  2,  4,  5,  8,  10,  20, and  40 .

The common factors are:  1,  2,  and  4 .

The greatest one is  4 .  <== GCF

OK.

Now, what's each number as a product of the GCF and something else "

         44  is  4  times  11

         40  is  4  times  10.

So . . . . . (44 + 40)  is the same thing as   4 times (11 + 10) .

10. (2)(4)(5) = 40

    (4)(5)(1) = 20

    (5)(6)(0) = 0

Use the pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
24^2 + 7^2 = x^2
576 + 49 = x^2
x^2 = 625
√x^2 = √625
x = 25

Answer:

1.) a. i)  f(4) = 2, ii.) f(-3)= -5  b.)  x = -5, x = 2,  c.)  choice(2) -3 < x < 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Each problem

1.) a.) i.)   we see f(4) = 2  on the graph  the line goes through point (4, 2)

   a.)  ii.)  f(-3) = -5

1.) b.)  There are only 2 zeros for f(x)  which intersect the x-axis in only 2 points.

 x = -5  and x = 2  are the only 2 zeros.

1.) c.)  only for   -3 < x < 5  is the function  f(x) increasing.

  choice (2.)

Please help and explain!! I really don't get this
const2013 [10]
Average rate of change means find the slope of the secant line. So if there is a function f(x) and you want to find the average R.O.C over the interval [a,b], it would be (f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)

1. (f(3)-f(1))/(3-1)= (0-(-2))/2= 1, so D.

2. Same concept; (8-4)/(3-1)=2, so A.

3. Again, (39-(-1))/5= 8, B.
