Jonathan Swift used satire in his writings because he achieved very good results, it was a genre that he always cultivated and with which he showed great imaginative attributes. Skill as a satirist is evident from his first books where he ridicules literary dicussions about the quality of works of antiquity with respect to modern ones, he also used satire on hypocrisy in religion and literature. Also in his most famous book The Journeys of Gulliver uses the imaginative and pessimistic satire of society, he also launches a sharp satire on the politics and social relations of his time.
