Answer:

A) <u>7 : 13</u> is the ratio .

B) <u>69.65 million </u>approve of George W. Bush.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The results of a recent survey of 1500  American adults show that 525 approve of the   job that President George W. Bush is doing  and 975 do not approve.

Now, to find the ratio of the people approve to those that do not. And number of people approve of George W, if there are 199 million adults in the United States.

<h2>A)</h2>

People approve of the job = 525.

People do not approve of the job = 975.

So, the ratio of that approve to those that do not:

525:975

=\frac{525}{975}

<em>On simplifying it:</em>

=\frac{7}{13}

=7:13.

Thus, the ratio is 7 : 13.

<h2>B)</h2>

If the adults in the United States is 199 million.

Let the people approve be x.

According to survey 525 out of 1500 approve of the job.

So, 525 is equivalent to 1500.

Thus, x is equivalent to 199,000,000. (1 million = 1,000,000.)

Now, to solve by using cross multiplication method:

\frac{525}{1500} =\frac{x}{199,000,000}

<em>By cross multiplying we get:</em>

<em />104,475,000,000=1500x<em />

<em>Dividing both sides by 1500 we get:</em>

69,650,000=x\\\\x=69,650,000.

Thus, number of people approve are 69.65 million.

Therefore, 69.65 million approve of George W. Bush.

ruslelena [56]
You can set up a proportion that looks like 3/7 = x/21. X being the number that you are trying to find. Seven goes into 21 three times. So multiply 3 also by that 3 to get 9. So three sevenths of twenty-one is 9.

Jed's Market

Step-by-step explanation:

Find out the cost of one candy bar for each store:

Smith's:

  1. 9.00 ÷ 3 = $3.00

Green's:

  1. 10.00 ÷ 4 = $2.50

Jed's:

  1. 12.00 ÷ 5 = $2.40

Wan's:

  1. It already tells you the price for each: $2.75

Finding the best deal:

  1. Look at all our costs per 1 candy bar. Which one has the smallest price?
  2. Because $2.40 is the smallest price, Jed's Market has the best buy.

I hope this helps!
