  1. Historical Musicology is the branch of musicology which includes Musical Theory and can be divided in classical music and comparative music.
  2. New musicology focuses upon the cultural study, aesthetics, criticism, and hermeneutics of music.
  3. Ethno Musicology, also called Comparative Musicology, often from a Eurocentric point of view is the study of music from the cultural and social aspects of the people who make it.
  4. Systematic Musicology, which is highly interdisciplinary, including the fields of Music Philosophy, Music Psychology, Cognitive Music Psychology, Neuroscience, Robotics and AI.
