Why did Branch Rickey, president of the Dodgers, most likely choose to sign Jackie Robinson? Give at least two details from the

text to support your answer.

Answer:

Branch Rickey most likely chose to sign Jackie Robinson because <u>Robinson was younger while Satchel Paige was already aging</u>.

Rickey believed in the 26-year-old Robinson because besides being young, he was also an army veteran who could <em>"bear the ruthless scrutiny of being first"</em> (as mentioned in the text).

Besides this, it was <em>easy for Robinson to abide by the rules.</em> He had the <em>"table manners that whites liked"</em> (as mentioned in the text). This was something that Paige was lacking.

Explanation:

The question above is related to the article entitled "Before Jackie: How Strikeout King Satchel Paige Struck Down Jim Crow." The story centers on Satchel Paige and his emotional pain of not being chosen by Branch Rickey as the real American Hero in putting an end to the Jim Crow law.

Story Cinderella
dlinn [17]
The story makes it very clear who is considered a “good” person and who is portrayed as otherwise. The good people are easily identifiable by observing their characteristics; Cinderella, the main character, is a perfect example. Despite her rough upbringing she was still kind hearted and did the best she could manage, and just wanted to have fun and be able to share the same experiences of other girls (by going to be ball, being free.) She was also incredibly patient and gentle. The prince is also a good character, still accepting Cinderella even after learning she wasn’t the rich, classy woman she had originally appeared to be and continuously searching for her throughout the story because he had fallen in love with her. I believe that Cinderella and the prince are two examples of good characters in this story, but the tale presents many examples of both good and bad characteristics.

Select the best evidence to support the statement ""Rocky river bottoms are vital to the Eastern hellbenders’ lifecycle."" there
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer: "This nocturnal amphibian often hides under the same rock for its entire adult life span-up to thirty years-emerging at night to feed largely on crayfish."

Explanation:

Rocky River bottoms at North Carolina Pisgah National Forest are where Eastern Hellbenders seem to blending into.

They could be right underneath swimmers who would never know that they are there meaning that the swimmers could inadvertently destroy or cause damage to the habitat of the Eastern Hellbenders.

These habitats are very important to the Eastern Hellbender because as the text states, they could hide under the same rock for their entire lifespan which is on average 30 years. Those rocky bottoms are therefore very important to it's lifecycle.
