In the time when the Israelites were in the wilderness being led by Moses to the promised land, they started speaking against Moses and God because they were impatient. God sent snakes out to bite those Israelites. When they were pleading for forgiveness, god had Moses erect a brass serpent on a pole. Whoever was to look at it would get well again and live. Jesus is like that brass serpent, for those who seek him and “look to him” shall live as well.
