What is solution to the system of equations? Y=5×+2 3×=-y+10
Sergio [31]
Y = 5x + 2
3x = y + 10

3x = y + 10
3x = 5x + 2 + 10
3x = 5x + 12
3x - 5x = 12
-2x = 12
x = -6

substitute x = -6 into y = 5x + 2

y = 5(-6) + 2
y = -30 + 2
y = -28

x = -6, y = -28

hope this helped, God bless!

For the equation , y = -3x + 5 , tell whether its graph passes through the first quadrant. Explain how you know.
Vsevolod [243]
For any point to be in the first quadrant, it must have a positive "x" value and "y" value.
If x = 1 then y = 2, a point with both x and y positive values which would be in the First Quadrant.

Use Cramer's Rule to solve the following system: –2x – 6y = –26 5x + 2y = 13
andriy [413]
\bf \begin{cases}
-2x-6y&=-26\\
\quad 5x+2y&=13
\end{cases}\stackrel{\textit{determinant of the coefficients}}{D=
\begin{bmatrix}
-2&-6\\5&2
\end{bmatrix}}\implies (-4)-(-30)
\\\\\\
D=-4+30\implies \boxed{D=26}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\

\bf x=\cfrac{D_x}{D}\implies x=\cfrac{
\begin{bmatrix}
\boxed{-26}&-6\\\\ \boxed{13}&2
\end{bmatrix}}{D}\implies x=\cfrac{(-52)-(-78)}{26}
\\\\\\
x=\cfrac{-52+78}{26}\implies x=\cfrac{26}{26}\implies \boxed{x=1}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
y=\cfrac{D_y}{D}\implies y=\cfrac{
\begin{bmatrix}
-2&\boxed{-26}\\\\ 5&\boxed{13}
\end{bmatrix}}{D}\implies y=\cfrac{(-26)-(-130)}{26}
\\\\\\
y=\cfrac{-26+130}{26}\implies y=\cfrac{104}{26}\implies \boxed{y=4}

The area of a triangle is 45.5 cm2 and the base is 10 cm.
blondinia [14]
The area of a triangle is A=1/2b*h
You have the base (b) and you have the area (A)
So, if you plug in what you know, you get this:
45.5=1/2*10*h
Simplify it:
45.5=5h

Now solve for h
Divide by 5 to get h alone:
9.1=h

Your height is 9.1cm
Hope this helps :)
