It is false that the U.S. would continue to have a democracy if no one participated in government. Democracy, as noted by Abraham Lincoln, is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Therefore, America cannot achieve democracy without citizens participation in the government thus would result in an authoritarian kind of government where power in central to one individual.
