The enlightment basic ideology is freedom. Freedom to choose your own opinion, freedom to do what you desire, freedom to pursue something that you want, etc.
The independence itself is the embodiment of enlightnment because independence is the act of break free from a restrictive rule or establishment that previously dictate what you should and shouldn't do.
The Past Teaches Us About the Present
Because history gives us the tools to analyze and explain problems in the past, it positions us to see patterns that might otherwise be invisible in the present – thus providing a crucial perspective for understanding (and solving!) current and future problems.

Not the second Articles of confederation that led to the Civil War, the first! Before America had a Republic, which came into effect March 4th, 1789, there was a confederation between the sates, that came into effect March 1st, 1781.
