Why was taxation without representation a meaningful slogan??

History
1 answer:

Because the english Americans who came over to live in the colonies didn't have representation in parliament, and after the american-indian war which Britain helped with, made Britain especially in debt (remember they were even fighting with France too), they couldn't look to tax their people too much so they turned to taxing their people in the americas. Eventually after americans won the war against Britain, they needed assurities that the government wouldn't be too powerful like that again.

Why did France send Jacques Cartier to North America?
yaroslaw [1]

Answer:

To find a sea route to Asia.

Explanation:

King Francis I of France sent Cartier — likely because of his previous expeditions — on a new trip to the eastern coast of North America, then called the "northern lands." On a voyage that would add him to the list of famous explorers, Cartier was to search for gold and other riches, spices, and a passage to Asia.
