National boundaries impede cultural interaction and economic exchange because they make it more difficult for people to interact with those of other countries. Therefore, products are traded less, people travel less and there is less communication when a boundary is in place.
The supranational entity is the European Union.
The European Union tries to reduce this division by introducing free mobility among the member states of the union.
It is clear that this map has changed over time when we look at the key. Some countries are members, while other are not. It is likely that this will continue to change in the future.
