What 2 numbers add to get 2 and multiply to 4
rusak2 [61]
Factor 4
4=1 times 4
2 times 2
they don't add to 2
set up equation
x+y=2
xy=4

first equation, subtract x from both sides
y=2-x
subsitute for y
x(2-x)=4
distribute
2x-x^2=4
add x^2
2x=x^2+4
subtract 2x
0=x^2-2x+4
use quadratic formula which is
if you have ax^2+bx+c=0 then
x=\frac{ -b+/-\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac} }{2a} so

1x^2-2x+4=0
a=1
b=-2
c=4
x=\frac{ -(-2)+/-\sqrt{(-2)^{2}-4(1)(4)} }{2(1)}
x=\frac{ 2+/-\sqrt{4-16} }{2}
x=\frac{ 2+/-\sqrt{-12} }{2}
we have \sqrt{-12} and that doesn't give a real solution
therefor there are no real solutions
but if you want to solve fully
x=\frac{ 2+/-2\sqrt{-3} }{2}
i=\sqrt{-1}
x=\frac{ 2+/-2i\sqrt{3} }{2}
x=1+/-i\sqrt{3}
x=1-i\sqrt{3} or x=1+i\sqrt{3} (those are the 2 numbers)

HELP ME OUT HERE! PLS TELL ME HOW U GOT THE ANSWER TOO!
IgorC [24]

Answer: Choice C

\begin{array}{|c|c|} \cline{1-2}x & y\\\cline{1-2}0 & 1\\\cline{1-2}2 & 2\\\cline{1-2}4 & 3\\\cline{1-2}6 & 4\\\cline{1-2}\end{array}

=========================================================

Explanation:

There are four marked points on the line.

Each point is of the form (x,y)

  • The first or left most point is (0,1)
  • The second point is (2,2)
  • The third is (4,3)
  • The fourth is (6,4)

Each of these points is then listed in the table format as shown above.

There are infinitely many other points on the line; however, we only select a few of them to make the table (or else we'd be here all day).

Extra side notes:

  • The slope of this line is m = 1/2 = 0.5
  • The y intercept is 1 located at (0,1)
  • The equation of this line is y = 0.5x+1

Andrea has a goal of running at least 50 miles this month. She has already run 7 miles. How many miles does Andrea need to run e
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

At least 1.72 miles per day.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Goal of running is at least 50 miles in a month.

           Andrea have already run 7 miles.

           Days left in the month is 25.

As given, Andrea have already run 7 miles.

∴ Andrea need to run this month= 50\ miles - 7\ miles= 43\ miles

Days remaining this month is 25.

Now, finding miles need to run each day to meet her goal.

Miles need to run each day= \frac{remaining\ miles}{remaining\ days}

⇒ Miles need to run each day= \frac{43}{25} = 1.72\ miles

∴ Andrea need to run at least 1.72 miles to meet her goal this month.

What do I need to do??
asambeis [7]
For the first step you need to convert between feet in real life and feet in the cartoon drawing. 1/2 inch in cartoon is 3 feet in real life, so 1 foot in real life was 1/6 inch in cartoon. Her hair was 21 feet in real life, therefore it was 21/6, or 7/2 inches long in the cartoon. For the second step you need to explain what I just said, In your own words! Please do not simply copy down my solution.
