The equation of a line is 4x-3y=-24 what is the x-intercept of the line

Mathematics
1 answer:
hjlf3 years ago
4 0
The x intercept is there point where y is 0, so plug 0 in for y and solve for x
4x-3(0)=-24
4x=-24
x=-6

the x intercept is the point (-6,0)

What are the intercepts of the line 3x – 15y = 60?   A. x-intercept: –4; y-intercept: 20   B. x-intercept: –3; y-intercept: 15
geniusboy [140]
3x – 15y = 60

y-intercept x = 0
3(0)– 15y = 60
-15y = 60
y = -4

x-intercept y = 0
3x– 15(0) = 60
3x = 60
x  =20

answer :

C. x-intercept: 20; y-intercept: –4

Hey, another math question
Lena [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

By adjacent interior angles theorem,

If a transversal line 'r' intersects two parallel lines 'm' and 'n' then the consecutive interior angles are supplementary.

a° + (3x - 18)° = 180°

a° = 180° - (3x - 18)°

By vertical angles theorem,

If two straight lines intersect each other at a point, opposite angles formed are equal in measure.

180° - (3x - 18)° = (5x - 10)°

(5x - 10) + (3x - 18) = 180

(5x + 3x) - (10 + 18) = 180

8x - 28 = 180

8x = 180 + 28

8x = 208

x = 26

At first, the ratio of Dave's savings to Sam's savings was 5:4. After each of them donated $40 to charity, the ratio of Dave's s
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

$300

Step-by-step explanation:

Let D = Dave's savings and S = Sam's savings.

(1)                     D/S = 5/4

(2) (D – 40)/(S-40) = 13/10                  Multiply (1) by 4S

(3)                     4D = 5S                      Multiply (2) by 10(S-40)

            10(D - 40) = 13(S - 40)            Remove parentheses

(4)       10D – 400 = 13S - 520            Solve (3) for S

                         S = (4/5)D                  Substitute into (4)

         10D – 400 = 13(4/5)D - 520     Multiply each side by 5

     50D – 2000 = 52D – 2600         Subtract 50D from each side

               -2000 = 2D – 2600            Add 2600 to each side

                  600 = 2D                          Divide each side by 2

                      D = $300

Dave's savings at first were $300.

Find x and the measures of the indicated parts
frutty [35]
Given:

Two similar triangles AEB and ACD.

To solve for x, we can use ratio and proportion following the rule for similar triangles.

So,

AE / AD = AB / AC

Substitute values,

AE = AD - DE
AE = 6 - 5
AE = 1

1 / 6 = 2 / (2 + x + 4)

Solve for x

x = 6

then,

BC = x +4 = 6 + 4 = 10
AC = 2 + x + 4 = 12

Therefore, the measurements of the triangles are:

AE = 1
BC = 10
AC = 12
