The Trail of Broken Treaties march was a cross-country American Indian and First Nations organizations protest which demanded for the restoration of land to the Indians and the abolition of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Its purpose was to call attention to American Indian issues such as treaty rights, education, inadequate housing, improvement of living standards and economic opportunities.
