According to reports by National Public Radio, sales of products labeled Non-GMO have more than doubled over the past two years,

jumping from $7 billion to $16 billion. At the same time, organic foods have also been gaining in popularity, though at a much slower rate. What do you know about GMO's? All organic foods contain GMO ingredients, as set forth in USDA guidelines. 85% of the U.S. corn is GMO; modified to be resistant to herbicides. The U.S. does not require that GMO foods be labelled as such. Example of GMO: cross-pollinating plants for a desired trait. Technology now allows us to transfer genes between organisms of different species and even kingdoms. Extensive testing has been conducted on GMO-foods to ensure that there will be no adverse allergic reactions or health risks.

Explanation:

A genetically modified organism is an organism or plant altered for beneficial traits which would not have been possible by the traditional mating process or recombination techniques.

Genetic engineering is the technique involved for the construction of gene of interest and inserting them in the host species for getting expressed.

Many fruitful results have come out like a tomato of long shelf life k/a flavr savr.

Apart from molecular techniques used for cloning, CRISPR is the recent innovation which had made it very simple.

The GMOs can solve the food problem of the world as Single-cell proteins and longer shelved life food.

Disease resistant plants can be formed for better yields.

Nutrition level of food can be increased.

Example of GMO are canola, corn, papaya, soy and many animals are also on the list.

What is the greatest current threat to the loss of Earths biodiversity
luda_lava [24]
The greatest current threat to the loss of the Earth's biodiversity is global warming. This is because when the ice melts, the cold comes down to us and makes us have rainy summers and very early snow and cold springs and cold autumns. And when the ice melts enough, water will start to come down and flood countries and cities, such as Manhattan. Scientists are predicting that California will break away from America.
