Choices should have been provided in order to answer this question.

I read the poems. Both were written with the theme of having hope for the Lord.

The speakers wrote how great the Lord is and despite the ups and downs they encounter in life, they are still grateful for what the Lord has provided for them. They are content to live life to the fullest and are looking forward to being with the Lord as their earthly lives end.

ankoles [38]

Answer:

The right answer is "Subjective".

Explanation:

 • This same subjective tone is being used to explain individual or value judgments, perceptions, viewpoints, emotional expressions. At moments, it could even be biased as well as impersonal.
 • These are demonstrated through some kind of combination of letters that individual uses to share his thoughts or concepts about doing something.

In a speech delivered in 1883, social reformer and writer Frederick Douglass asserted that “No man can put a chain about the ank
Ratling [72]

Taking Douglass's words about freedom into consideration, we can write a thesis statement and lines of reasoning in the following manner:

Thesis statement: No one is truly free until everyone is free.

Reasoning:

 • As human beings, we are interconnected. We cannot consider ourselves free if any one of us is suffering, hurting.
 • When we try to control others, we take their dignity away from them and sow justified anger and resentment.
 • For examples, native tribes in South America often have their lands invaded by whites. This disrespect only leads to battles that ends up with deaths and that pile up even more anger.
 • Respecting and accepting one another, caring for all, is the only way to true freedom.

What is a thesis statement?

A thesis statement appears at the beginning of an essay, usually towards the end of the very first paragraph. Its purpose is to convey what the essay will be about, that is, which topic will be discussed, and to engage readers. It also shows the tone and position the author has in relation to the topic.

Above, the thesis statement claims that freedom is only real when everyone is free. The lines of reasoning are meant to show that freedom comes lack of respect toward others, and such disrespect only leads to anger and violence.

BlackZzzverrR [31]
To answer this question, we first have to clarify some terms.

A frame story occurs when a story is told within a story. For example, in the movie "The Princess Bride," the story is told by a grandfather telling a story to his grandson. The story he tells is about the Princess Bride. The above excerpt does not have a frame structure. As a result, option B. can be eliminated.

A flashback occurs when a segment of the story goes back in time. For example, if the narrator is in the middle of a scene and then thinks about a time from his childhood, that is a flashback. However, in this excerpt from the novel, all of the action is occurring in the present. As a result, option D. can be eliminated.

That leaves options A. and C. It is clear the narration is occurring in chronological order. However, is that the best answer? To decide, look closely at what is happening in the scene.

The narrator is doing two things here. First, the narrator describes Scotty's actions. Second, the narrator is commenting on them. For example: He begins to play a song, but then the narrator switches to commentary and describes the song's "gushy metallic complexity." Scotty plays two more songs, and the narrator comments "their amplification was fine." This format continues throughout the selection.

Therefore, the best answer to this question is option A: Multiple switches are used between the action and commentary.
