They knew that people were going to change, and that the Constitution had to change with them. In order to be a working document, it had to be changed to reflect what was going on. At the same time they wanted changes to be taken seriously so they made it difficult to change things.

The Fugitive Slave Act upset many Northerners because

Answer: C. It forced them to support the recapture of escaped enslaved persons.

Explanation: The North was in heavy opposition to slavery. The Fugitive slave act made it so that any escaped slave ( whether they were in a free state or not) could be captured and returned into slavery, when beforehand if a slave entered a free state they were free.
