The Shang dynasty which is also known as the Yin dynasty had multiple features that made them successful during their time period. They had built houses that were made out of wood with these houses being protected with big walls of earth. In this way they could secure the houses. Another thing that was specific for the Shang culture was the advancement of bronze casting and pottery as bronze was being used for ritual purposes as well, compared to previous use where only utilitarian items were made out of bronze. They have also left written records which still remain and were the first to do so.
