The easiest character to apply this to i Macbeth himself. He was corrupted by the wish for power so much that he killed the King so as to become the new king. Then he did all kinds of things that were bad so he could keep his reign. It sometimes corrupts is the best answer because not all powerful people were corrupt. The king that Macbeth killed, Duncan, was not corrupt yet he had the power.
