One of the principles of the Constitution is “Popular Sovereignty”

Explanation:

The principle of popular sovereignty is that the power of a State and its legislature, across its elected officials (the People's rule), which is the basis of all political authority is created and maintained by the consent of its citizens.

The vote is an example of popular sovereignty. As a citizen, it is important to vote because the government listens to your voice mainly.

IMPORTANCE: Popular sovereignty is the faith that when a democratic system is in position, people are making decisions concerning the legislation and the administration, and control is controlled "by the people and for the population." Citizens have control of the government authorities who serve their long term interests, usually by voting.

This is the belief that the Government's authority is established by the will and the approval of its citizens who are the center of all power.

Why didn't Germans speak out against laws that stripped Jews of their rights after the Nazis came to power?
Inessa05 [86]

Answer:

One of the first things the Nazi regime did when it came to power in 1933 was to establish concentration camps for its political opponents to suppress opposition. The Nazis used these camps, together with other measures that terrorized Germany’s population, to ensure that the atmosphere in Germany would be one of fear, terror, and conformity. In addition, antisemitism existed in Germany prior to the rise of the Nazis, and Nazi propaganda exploited this antisemitism to marginalize Jews. Nazi legislation progressively isolated and stripped Jews of their rights. The combination of terror, propaganda, and pre-existing prejudice against Jews created a situation where Germans were afraid to speak out in general, and were even less likely to speak out on behalf of the Jews. Moreover, there was not a significant and clear moral authority (like the Church) that encouraged people to voice their dissent. Lastly, there was a significant element of the German population that agreed with what the Nazis were doing.

REY [17]

Answer:

Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. (19 How.) 393 (1857), was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court held that the Constitution of the United States was not meant to include American citizenship for black people, regardless of whether they were enslaved or free, and therefore the rights and privileges it confers upon American citizens could not apply to them.[2][3] The decision was made in the case of Dred Scott, an enslaved black man whose owners had taken him from Missouri, which was a slave-holding state, into the Missouri Territory, most of which had been designated "free" territory by the Missouri Compromise of 1820. When his owners later brought him back to Missouri, Scott sued in court for his freedom, claiming that because he had been taken into "free" U.S. territory, he had automatically been freed, and was legally no longer a slave. Scott sued first in Missouri state court, which ruled that he was still a slave under its law. He then sued in U.S. federal court, which ruled against him by deciding that it had to apply Missouri law to the case. He then appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court
