Battle of ball Run was the first major battle of the civil war which ended up in confederates winning the battle.

Explanation:

Northerners thought that this battle could be an easy win for them but surprisingly not so. Two union armies were commanded by General McDowell and General Robert Patterson. The Confederate armies were commanded by General P.G.T. Beauregard and General Joseph E. Johnston.

Colonel Thomas Jackson who led the confederate army encountered a war against the union army at Henry House hill. He was so resistant that Union had to retreat. This earned Thomas Jackson a nickname called Stonewall Jackson. Confederates won a major battle.

The day after the battle, president Lincoln signed a bill which allowed a recruitment of five lakh new union soldiers into the army. It was also called the first Battle of Manassas, popular title given by the confederates. During Stone wall attack demonstrated by Jackson, the confederates showcased a high pitched slogan to show their support to Confederacy and it was popularly called the "Rebel yell".
