It's got to be usually thats what peer editing is for, to find areas for improvement in the essay since your peers can provide valuable information from a student's prospective instead of a teacher's prospective. (Hope this help)

Peer editing in my humble opinion, is more effective than a non-peer edit, simply because your peers usually have your best interest in heart. Most of the time, peers are more comfortable with constructive criticism than someone you are not familiar with.
