American writers often break from literary tradition because, the audience always wants something new, surprising, unusual, etc. Like anything else on this world Authors change. Modern day writing is only slightly different. Today, we don't use English like Shakespeare did. Shakespeare wrote more than just plays, he wrote poems and some books. Today, authors like J.K. Rowling use their imagination more to create stories about wizards and kids with magical powers. Back then, they did not come up with such magical powers unless it spoke about God or Jesus.

Mamont248 [21]
Syntax are important in a piece of writing because it is essential for written communication.
Without syntax, the sentences are harder to understand.

Example:   Incorrect: While watching a movie, people who text on their phone are very annoying
Correct: People who text on their phone while watching a movie are very annoying.

It just makes the sentence easier to understand.
