Answer:

ambition

Explanation:

The "Great Expectations" is a famous novel by Charles Dickens, an English writer. The story of the novel centers on Philip Pirrip or "Pip."<u> </u><u>He was a loving orphan boy who became an ambitious man. </u>He wanted to become a gentleman (a higher social status). Thus, along the way, he unintentionally hurt those whom he loved. In the end of the story, he realized the true value of having real friends and family. In this way, the story was able to provide guidance on how Pip's ambition turned out in the end and how it helped him.

On a similar note, Julius Caesar<u> was also an ambitious person. </u>He wanted power all to himself. This ambition of his led to his death when a group of senators conspired to kill him, thus leading to his downfall.

So, both of these stories center on the "theme of ambition."

Why is Franklin’s “The Way to Wealth” often referred to as a “secular sermon”?
Alex Ar [27]
I also think the correct answer is D. It uses religious stories and imagery to communicate modern ideals.
Secular means related to this world, something that doesn't have anything to do with religion or the Church. So I guess the final option best fits that description given that Franklin's speeches weren't intended to be religious, but rather didactic and teach people proper behavior.

Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]
The place being described is a mountain. Clue words like wildflowers, peaks, and clear blue sky are usually seen in mountain views. The writer was trying to convey a beautiful scenery of the mountains during Spring where many observable species, like wildflowers, thrive in the environment and the weather is also at its most beautiful showing clear blue skies.
