Now, in Law, Precedent is a previous decision of the Court in a particular case that established a legal principle and is now applied in a similar case with the same facts. For instance, a lawyer when arguing a case in the court of law uses judicial precedents to back up his arguments. Precedents are case laws that judges and justices use in arriving at a just decision. It serves as a guideline.
