While the Palestinians were weakening and, consequently, dispersing part of their population to other territories (such as Lebanon, Syria and Egypt), Israel intensified its strength and became militarily and politically predominant in the Middle East region, mainly after the victories in the wars of the Suez (1956), of the Six Days (1967) and of Yom Kippur (1973). This configuration favored the creation, by the Palestinians, of several extremist groups that started to fight not only for the creation of a Palestinian State, but also for the total destruction of Israel and the expulsion of the Jews from the region.

To this end, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded in 1964, led by the Al Fatah group, which has carried out extremist acts since 1959 and was commanded by Yasser Arafat. Later, in 1987, another extremist group was founded, Hamas, which today consists of three fronts: a political party, an armed wing and a pro-Palestinian philanthropic organization. This group is considered by many countries to be a terrorist organization (including Israel and the USA), but for other countries it not.

Also in 1987, the PLO, under the leadership of Yasser Arafat's Fatah, began to no longer use methods of violence to achieve its objectives and also acted to recognize the existence of the State of Israel, claiming, however, the creation the State of Palestine and a harmonious coexistence between the two peoples, unlike Hamas, which does not accept the existence of the Israelis. Because of this configuration, the PLO came to be recognized by the West and the UN as the only representative of the Arab front in Palestine.

In 1993, the United States made diplomatic intermediation between Arafat and the then Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, in the so-called Oslo Agreements, in Norway, where the negotiations took place. The official signing of the terms was carried out in Washington, capital of the USA (photo below). These agreements meant that the Palestinians were once again in possession of a territory - even without a constituted state -, at the same time that the PLO was reconfigured by the creation of the Palestinian Authority (PA). That institution came under the command of Arafat and erected its headquarters in the West Bank, which was returned by the Israelis to the Gaza Strip.

Nikolay [14]
One of the main ways in which Bostonians felt the British had pushed them too far is because many British soldiers were demanding free room and board in colonists' homes. Another reason was increased taxation.
