Aztecs were a people living in Central America in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, as a civilization with a rich culture and mythology. Their capital was Tenochtitlan, located at the site of today's Mexico City. Until their defeat, after the conquest by the Spanish conquistadors in 1521, they were the last great Mesoamerican civilization, which means they controlled the most powerful empire in Mesoamerica, today's Mexico.

How did Baron de Montesquieu’s beliefs differ from those of Thomas Hobbes?
docker41 [41]

Hobbes thought that governments should have absolute power, whereas Montesquieu thought that there should be checks and balances.

What are Montesquieu’s beliefs?

Montesquieu popularized
the concept of a state's division of powers. These are the legislative (a Parliament), executive (a government), and judicial branches of government (court system).

Furthermore, he advocated for the implementation of a system of checks and balances to ensure that no branch has too much power to override the others.

Therefore, as previously stated, Montesquieu's opinions are different from those of Thomas Hobbes.
