11. Why has Turkey been a crossroad of multiple cultures and an advantage of
sergiy2304 [10]

Turkey has been a crossroad for multiple cultures and an advantage of global economic exchange because of its excellent strategic location.

Explanation:

Turkey's territory has been place where numerous cultures interact and mix for millenniums. From ancient times, lot of different groups of people have been migrating through Turkey, or settling in Turkey. Such examples have been the:

  • Dorric people
  • Indo-Europeans
  • Caucasus people
  • Celtic people
  • Balkan people
  • Mongol people
  • Turkic people
  • Arab people
  • Iranian people
  • Italic people

All of these people have been creating a very mixed and interesting culture in Turkey, as all of them were interacting, mixing, adopting cultural traits from each other. One of the main reasons as to why so many different people have been moving into this territory has been the economic advantage. Turkey is connecting Europe and Asia, and the majority of the trade between these two continents was going through it, so whoever controlled the trade was having huge economic advantage. This trend has continued even in modern times, as Turkey is crucial in the trade between Europe and the Middle East, as well as controlling the Bosphorus, thus controlling trade between the Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea.
