Yesterday,consuela bought some fudge and caramels for $5.25. She bought 2 pieces of fudge at 50 cents a piece and some caramels

at 25 cents each. she gave some caramels to her friend carrie. Now she has 2 pieces of fudge and 10 caramels. If consuela did not eat any candy yet how many caramels did Carrie receive

5.25 - 50 = 4.25 \: 10 \times 25 = 2.50  \\ \: for \: the \: ten \: piece \: of \: caramel \:  \\ 4.25 - 2.50 = 1.75 \: 25 + 4 = 1.00  \\ + 3 = .75
