Why shouldn't the us switch to the metric system?
s344n2d4d5 [400]
Hello!

Currently, a majority of the world uses the metric system. The United States is one of only three nations that does not use the metric system. It may seem more practical for the United States to adopt the metric system and use the same measurements as most of the world. However, this would be impractical to Americans. It would be extremely difficult to change the measurement system in America when nearly all citizens are accustomed to it. This would cause hundreds of thousands of people to suddenly change their way of thinking, measuring, and calculating. It would also be extremely costly if the nation needed to change all of the street signs to kilometers rather than miles, and measure in centimeters instead of feet (for example).

I hope this helps you!

Read two passages in the debate over the United States’ Open Door policy in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
tatiyna

Answer:

Beveridge supports the Open Door policy because of potential economic benefits, while Carnegie opposes it because of possible economic costs

Explanation:

According to the two passages in the debate over the United States’ Open Door policy in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the statement that best contrasts the two points of view between Beveridge and Carnegie is that Beveridge supports the Open Door policy because of potential economic benefits, while Carnegie opposes it because of possible economic costs
