The basic relationship between the ozone layer and the atmosphere is that the ozone layer is part of the atmosphere.

The atmosphere is consisted of five layers, each having their own unique characteristics. The ozone layer is a layer within a layer. It is a part of the second highest atmospheric layer, the stratosphere, but it forms a zone, layer, in it which is exclusively made out of ozone. The ozone is a gas made out of oxygen, or rather three merged molecules of oxygen, O³.

This layer has a crucial role in enabling the life on Earth. It manages to absorb most of the ultra violet rays from the Sun, thus not allowing the living organisms on the Earth to be fried to death by them. The human activity though has made damage on this layer by releasing certain chemicals that break apart its molecular structure, with the end result being holes in the ozone layer.
