What does this metaphor mean?
Marta_Voda [28]

Answer:

By comparing their aunt to an oyster, the narrator is saying that the aunt is defenceless/an open book.

Explanation:

To understand this metaphor, you first need to understand an oyster. Oysters have hard shells around a soft piece of meat- the shell is protecting the living oyster inside. By saying that the aunt is a little piece of meat on an open shell, the narrator is saying that the aunt's walls are broken down. The aunt has nothing portecting her- she's an open book. Hope this helps- ask if you want me to elaborate any more!

I critical choice I made was to keep my bestfriend I did have around or to not keep her around anymore. It impacted my life because it was 6 years of being friends just gone by not talking anymore which can be ok for some relationships. But when you were always with them and then they start to change over time and shells are trying not to be stepped over all the time it gets tiring. Once it gets tiring because they don’t care it’s really no point in anymore.

"I'll do anything," he went on, more and more incoherently. "Anything you tell me. There be some sports are painful-you know. Bu
Kobotan [32]

In this line of Brave, New World, John uses a quote from The Tempest by William Shakespeare to communicate with Lenina. John talks about how some forms of "baseness" (something that is low, or that lacks merit) are undergone nobly. This means that some actions, even of they are bad or difficult, must be accepted honourably. This points to the idea of sacrificing and enduring difficulties. What John wants Lenina to understand is that he has a desire to make sacrifices or offerings in order to win her love.
