Well Amelia wants Lyddie to go to church as the factory regulations say that she has to go to church and be virtuous and upstanding. It doesn't even matter to which church she goes as long as she visits some church. Lyddie is very uncomfortable with going to church as it was not really a part of her lifestyle on the farm.
