Hi, he sought Utnapishtim, who is sort of an equivalent to Moses, both of them had to build a boat in order to save themselves from the great flood that gods sent them. Utnapishtim was awarded immortality for being loyal to gods, and Gilgamesh is obsessed with the idea of eternal life, thus he seeks Utnapishtim and gods (primarily Enlil) to become immortal as well.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh seeks Utanapishtim to learn the secret of eternal life. After Enkidu died, Gilgamesh was afraid he would die too.

EXPLANATION

That feeling tormented Gilgamesh. He traveled across the Land of Night and the Waters of the Dead, to meet a man named Utanapishtim. Utanapishtim is a human being who survived the Great Flood which then was given the immortality of life. Based on the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh and Enkidu won the battle against Humbaba. They killed the monster Humbaba and then cut off his head as proof of their victory.

Gilgamesh is the semi-mythical king of Uruk in Mesopotamia which is widely known through literature titled The Epic of Gilgamesh. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a Sumerian / Babylonian poetic work written around 2150 - 1400 BC, which makes it included in the old literature.

The great king Gilgamesh was considered too arrogant by the gods, so they decided to teach him a lesson. The gods sent Enkidu, a brave man in charge of demeaning Gilgamesh. Enkidu and Gilgamesh engage in fierce battles, Enkidu can be defeated. Enkidu with grace accepts his defeat, the two then become friends and embark on an adventure together. They ventured and met with Humbaba, a monster in the Cedar Forest.

After Enkidu died, Gilgamesh was afraid he would die too. That feeling tormented him. He traveled across the Land of Night and the Waters of the Dead, to meet a man named Utanapishtim. Utanapishtim is a human being who survived the Great Flood which then was given the immortality of life. Gilgamesh wants to learn how to live eternally from Utanapishtim. He told Gilgamesh about how he obeyed the god Ea about the coming flood and followed his instructions to make an ark to save animals, plants and his family.

Then he told Gilgamesh that eternal life would be given to him if Gilgamesh could not sleep for the next six days. But Gilgamesh failed.
