Answer:

NATO

Explanation:

The Warsaw Pact was created in reaction to the integration of West Germany into NATO in 1955 per the London and Paris Conferences of 1954, but it is also considered to have been motivated by Soviet desires to maintain control over military forces in Central and Eastern Europe.Just one week later, on May 14, 1955, the Warsaw Pact was established as a mutual military defense complement of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance. The Soviet Union hoped the Warsaw Pact would help it contain West Germany and allow it to negotiate with NATO on a level playing field of power.

Five methods of nomination used today include:
vovikov84 [41]

The five correct items are:

convention

caucus

direct primary

petition

announcement

Those are the means by which candidates enter the nomination process for public elections. The two terms that don't fit are "inheritance" and "promotion." An inheritance-based system would be like the old arrangements of monarchs or nobles, where someone took over the throne or provincial government simply because he was the son of the previous king or lord. A promotion-based system would mean that persons advanced to positions of public office not through democratic election processes, but by being promoted internally within the government. For some staff positions in government that does happen, and then those are appointed positions rather than elected positions. But for elected positions in the government, democratic processes are followed. Candidates for office must at least announce their candidacy. They may need a certain number of petition signatures to get their names on the official election ballot. Or they need to get on the ballot through preliminary steps by the larger political parties, such as caucuses, direct primaries, and the conventions of the parties.

Upton Sinclair's The Jungle impacted the passage of the A) Twentieth Amendment. B) Eighteenth Amendment. Eliminate C) Nineteenth
Reil [10]

Answer:

D) Meat Inspection Act in 1906.

Explanation:

Upton Sinclair's book The Jungle was a fictional book about the experience of immigrants working in the meatpacking industry in Chicago. Even though this book was fictional, many of the details about working conditions and the unsanitary ways of the meatpacking industry were factualy. This book outlined the lack of cleanliness and disgusting habits of the meatpacking industry, including rats within some of the meat they sold to the American public.

This book caused outrage amongst American citizens. President Teddy Roosevelt responded to this book and its content by passing the Meat Inspection Act. This resulted in government regulation of this industry and a set of sanitary standards that busineses must meet.
