These two short stories are prime examples of regional fiction. They are both written in a very realistic way and deal with the common American people, which is one of the reasons they rose to fame and popularity. In addition, they both use the dialects of those regions which they describe instead of using standardized English language, so as to further increase the realistic aspirations of the authors.
