I know this isn't an educational question but I was wanting to know if I should write a paper on Slavery. I'm my history class w

e only study African American slavery and I was going to write a paper to the principle that we should study all slavery. I think we all should be remembered in history considering most of our ancestors were slaves. However I don't believe any of us have the right to not want to participate in learning about our ancestors slavery considering they all worked so hard to free us all from ownership over each other. I also don't think people should you the excuse that they "feel uncomfortable" learning about the subject considering our ancestors are the one's who were beat and treated poorly not us. THEY were the ones who were torn from their family's so how can we sit here living freely feeling "uncomfortable" about a subject we had nothing to do with? Anyway I'm sorry, I probably wrote to much and I apologize if I offended anyone. I just want people opinions of I should do this or not.

I'd say go for it! People should not be uncomfortable about this topic! It's historical, true, raw, and a great topic to discuss. (To clarify I'm not saying slavery is great, because obviously it was hell.)

I think its important to understand slavery and how it affected our ancestors and the influence its had on our Nation and politics in general. We indirectly have everything to do with slavery. Part of the problem is not recognizing issues that arise and its racial insensitivity that has affected out nation. Our nation needs more African American leaders in the community to bridge the gap. Be the change you want to be in this world.

Why was the "war between the states" or the "war of the rebellion" called the first modern war? what were the major differences
sesenic [268]
Many historians might argue this point.... First modern war some consider was the Franco - Prussian war.

The massive amount of technology used.
Minnie balls, lever action guns, Gatling guns, trains, telegraph, air balloons.

North had more people, machines, and factories. They fought with one arm behind their back. Yale or Harvard had the row club all four years of the Civil War.

South had more mountains, but relied on other countries to supply their arms. Relied on cotton. Thought English would join for that reason. However, England found other countries to buy from.

I suggest watching the Ken Burns Civil War videos. Long but very informative.
