What did congress do to prepare the economy for war?
Tomtit [17]
The Depression was a good preparation for WWII-Americans had learned to scrimp and persevere. It took more than 6,000 people to provide food, equipment, medical services, and transportation to 8,000 soldiers. In addition, many raw materials, such as rubber, manila fiber, and oil, were in short supply. Nevertheless, Americans rose to the occasion. When FDR called for the production of 50,000 planes in a year, it was thought to be ridiculous. By 1944, the country was producing 96,000 a year. Technology blossomed.

Using the documents provided, evaluate the causes of the rise of nationalism throughout the world during the period 1750-1900 CE
son4ous [18]

Hello. You did not provide the necessary documents to answer your question. While we can research the factors that spurred the rise of nationalism during this period of time, it is important that you always provide all the information necessary to answer your question.

Answer:

Nationalism is the social and political movement that, within a society, stimulates the feeling of belonging to a specific culture, region and people, which citizens are proud of and want to protect at any cost.

The rise of nationalism during the period 1750-1900 owes several factors. At the beginning of this period, we can say that nationalism was born with the frequent battles that a region established to dominate another region. The battles made the citizens want to protect their territory and their people, and prevent a foreign culture from dominating what was already established.

This feeling also grew during the Napoleonic wars, where the search for the defense of territories and growing imperialism established strong nationalist principles in the population, strengthening the monarchies. The strengthening of monarchies encouraged groups opposed to this type of government. These groups also encouraged nationalist concepts, adopting enlightened ideas and claiming that the people, the nation, were sovereign.

This nationalist sentiment stimulated the struggle for the fall of monarchies and the independence of colonies, generating a strong feeling of belonging and patriotism.

Following these concepts, nationalism has been strengthened over the years, becoming a political ideology and being one of the main reasons for the establishment of authoritarian nationalist governments, which encouraged several wars, with the discourse of maintaining the honor and power of their nation.

Minchanka [31]

The two other identified events that occurred in the last 500 years that might be considered "turning points" in world history are the Fall of Constantinople and the Treaty of Westphalia.

What happened at the Fall of Constantinople?

 • Fall of Constantinople, (May 29, 1453), conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire. The dwindling Byzantine Empire came to an end when the Ottomans breached Constantinople's ancient land wall after besieging the city for 55 days.

 • The Peace of Westphalia in 1648 ended with the appending of two treaties between the empire and the new great powers, Sweden and France. They both settled the conflicts inside the empire with their guarantees. A new electorate was established for the exiled son of the revolt's leader, the elector Palatine.

Therefore, the two events took place in the last 500 years which are both considered turning points in the world history.
