A fisherman notices that his boat is moving up and down periodically, owing to waves on the surface of the water. It takes 3.5 s

for the boat to travel from its highest point to its lowest, a total distance of 0.69 m. The fisherman sees that the wave crests are spaced 6.6 m apart. Part A How fast are the waves traveling

Answer:

v= 0.94 m/s

Explanation:

In order to calculate the speed of the waves, you use the following formula for the speed of the waves:

v=\lambda f          (1)

v: speed of the wave

λ: wavelength of the wave

f: frequency of the wave

The frequency is calculated by using the information about the time that boat takes to travel from its highest point to its lowest point. This time is a half of a period:

\frac{T}{2}=3.5s\\\\T=7.0s

Then, the frequency is:

f=\frac{1}{T}=\frac{1}{7s}=0.142Hz

The wavelength of the wave is the distance between crests of the wave

\lambda=6.6m

With the values of the frequency and the wavelength, you can find the speed of the wave by using the equation (1):

v=(6.6m)(0.142Hz)=0.94\frac{m}{s}

The speed of the wave is 0.94m/s

In the ground state of hydrogen, according to the Bohr model, an electron orbits 5.3 x 10-11 m from the nucleus. It undergoes a
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

radius of electron(r)=5.3\times 10^{-11} m

centripetal acceleration (a_c)=9\times 10^22 m/s^2

we know

a_c=\frac{v^2}{r}

v=\sqrt{r\times a_c}

v=\sqrt{5.3\times 10^{-11}\times 9\times 10^{22}}

v=\sqrt{47.7\times 10^11}

v=21.84\times 10^5 m/s

(b)For n=10

r=100\times 5.3\times 10^{-11} m\approx 5.3\times 10^{-9} m

a_c=10^4\times 9\times 10^{22} m/s^2

a_c=9\times 10^{26} m/s^2

v=\sqrt{r\times a_c}

v=\sqrt{9\times 10^{26}\times 5.3\times 10^{-9}}

v=21.84\times 10^8 m/s

A generator with # ' = 300 V and Zg = 50 Ω is connected to a load ZL = 75 Ω through a 50-Ω lossless line of length l = 0.15λ. (
ki77a [65]

Answer:

a. Zin = 41.25 - j 16.35 Ω

b. V₁ = 143. 6 e⁻ ¹¹ ⁴⁶

c.  Pin = 216 w

d. PL = Pin = 216 w

e. Pg = 478.4 w , Pzg = 262.4 w

Explanation:

a.

Zin = Zo * [ ZL + j Zo Tan (βl) ] / [ Zo + j ZL Tan (βl) ]

βl = 2π / λ * 0.15 λ = 54 °

Zin = 50 * [ 75 + j 50 Tan (54) ] / [ 50 + j 75 Tan (54) ]

Zin = 41.25 - j 16.35 Ω

b.

I₁ = Vg / Zg + Zin ⇒ I₁ = 300 / 41.25 - j 16.35 = 3.24 e ¹⁰ ¹⁶

V₁ = I₁ * Zin = 3.24 e ¹⁰ ¹⁶ * ( 41.25 - j 16.35)

V₁ = 143. 6 e⁻ ¹¹ ⁴⁶

c.

Pin = ¹/₂ * Re * [V₁ * I₁]

Pin = ¹/₂ * 143.6 ⁻¹¹ ⁴⁶ * 3.24 e ⁻ ¹⁰ ¹⁶ = 143.6 * 3.24 / 2 * cos (21.62)

Pin = 216 w

d.

The power PL and Pin are the same as the line is lossless input to the line ends up in the load so

PL = Pin

PL = 216 w

e.

Pg Generator

Pg = ¹/₂ * Re * [ V₁ * I₁ ] = 486 * cos (10.16)

Pg = 478.4 w

Pzg dissipated

Pzg = ¹/₂ * I² * Zg = ¹/₂ * 3.24² * 50

Pzg = 262.4 w
