Give two possible reasons proposed for the massive extinction that occurred at the end of the Paleozoic Era.
Anettt [7]

Answer:

Two possible reasons for the massive extinction at the end of the Paleozoic Era are an asteroid collision and massive volcanic eruptions.

Explanation:

The massive extinction that occurred at the end of the Paleozoic Era is the biggest extinction from what is known so far. The majority of the species died out, and whole families of animals and plants were wiped out of the face of the Earth. It was only small and highly adaptable organisms that managed to survive and give rise to the later life-forms.

The two possible reasons for this massive extinction are an asteroid impact and massive volcanic eruptions. An asteroid collision would have created drastic changes in a matter of minutes and hours, with effects lasting for a long period of time, thus eliminating the majority of the life. Massive volcanic eruptions, with the Siberian super-volcano being the prime candidate, may have caused enormous amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide to end up in the atmosphere, thus rapidly changing the living conditions on the planet.

A region based on connections such as trade or communication is called a______.
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

B. Functional Region

Explanation:

Functional regions have boundaries related to a practical function within a given area. When the function of an area ends, the functional region ends and its boundaries cease to exist. For example, a functional region can be defined by a newspaper service or delivery area. If the newspaper goes bankrupt, the functional region no longer exists. Church parishes, shopping malls, and business service areas are other examples of functional regions. They function to serve a region and may have established boundaries for limits of the area to which they will provide service. An example of a common service area—that is, a functional region—is the region to which a local pizza shop will deliver. A functional region is a region that serves a function. Places within in an area are linked together through a common factor. For example, a city and its surrounding suburbs creates a functional region. People generally move to the suburbs if they have a job in the city.

Answer: lithosphere plate boundaries

Explanation: The planet Earth is covered by a layer formed by land and rocks called the earth's crust or lithosphere. This crust is not smooth and uniform, but rather irregular and composed of tectonic plates, also called lithosphere plates. These plates are not fixed as they are under the magma (high temperature molten rock).

These tectonic plates are in constant movement, exerting pressure on each other. Many earthquakes are caused by the energy released by the collision between these plates. Inhabited regions, which are located in these areas, receive the greatest impact from these earthquakes, because earthquakes concentrate on the boundaries of the lithosphere plate.
